Color Assistant is designed to expedite the process of determining eligibility for mammograms, scheduling screenings and organising subsequent follow-up appointments.
It is set to continue until the end of 2025, with backing from Google.org, and is available to all women aged 40 years or above, as well as those considered to be at an elevated breast cancer risk.
Color Assistant aims to simplify the initial steps of breast cancer risk evaluation and the coordination of screening procedures.
Women who fall into the target age group or are deemed high-risk according to clinical criteria can access the service at Color’s website.

By GlobalDataUpon gathering the necessary information to assess mammogram eligibility, the assistant will address any user inquiries and submit the data for clinical review by a healthcare professional within Color Medical’s affiliated medical group.
Following this, the care teams will engage with the women who are eligible for a mammogram to resolve any uncertainties and arrange their screening appointments.
Based on clinical guidelines, Color’s clinical team may also recommend additional imaging tests such as magnetic resonance imaging or breast ultrasounds.
Results from the screenings will be communicated directly to patients by Color clinicians, who will also coordinate further action for any abnormal findings.
This includes liaising with the patients’ current healthcare providers as needed.
At the heart of Color Assistant is Google Cloud’s generative AI technology. The system is powered by the Gemini 2.5 family of models, which oversee the entire user experience, ensuring a seamless and guided interaction.
The application employs an agentic framework (agent development kit) to manage multi-step processes.
Furthermore, the whole system is hosted on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, using the agent engine to maintain data protection and system performance standards.
Color Health co-founder and CEO Othman Laraki said: “When the logistics are handled – checking when you are due, understanding your personal risk for breast cancer, having an order placed without jumping through hoops and getting an appointment quickly that works with your schedule – mammogram compliance increases dramatically.
“Our work with Google is an innovative approach to getting access to essential healthcare services, utilising AI built with Google Cloud to rethink how we can change access to frontline healthcare needs, while making the lives of overburdened clinicians easier.”
