With the fresh influx of capital, Eight Sleep is set to enhance its AI capabilities, starting with the Sleep Agent.

This initiative represents a leap in the application of large language models to human physiology, moving beyond simple dialogue to provide actionable, real-time optimisation.

According to the company, the Sleep Agent will interpret biometric data and create digital simulations for each user, enabling it to forecast outcomes with modelling techniques.

It will be able to alter factors such as bed elevation, pre-sleep rituals and temperature to maximise nightly recovery.

Building on Eight Sleep’s current Autopilot feature, which adjusts nightly settings based on user biofeedback and behaviour, the funding will also facilitate the company’s expansion into the medical domain.

Capitalising on the health monitoring offerings of Eight Sleep’s Pod solution, which can track respiratory and cardiovascular patterns, the company is developing AI solutions for medical sleep challenges, initially focusing on sleep apnoea and menopausal sleep disturbances.

Eight Sleep CEO and co‑founder Matteo Franceschetti said: “Eight Sleep has developed a turn-key solution for sleep and health optimisation: hardware, software, AI, and consumer goods that dynamically adjust around each person’s needs.

“This new funding enables us to accelerate the deployment of AI for sleep optimisation, expand into medical applications like menopausal sleep and sleep apnoea, and bring our technology to millions of people around the world.”

The company recently introduced Hot Flash Mode, a dynamic cooling feature to help relieve symptoms related to menopause.

The company’s next step is to develop intelligent interventions targeting sleep apnoea, leveraging the contactless biometric monitoring and real-time actuations of Pod.
